Getting a credit card is almost indispensable today. Why, since I cancelled my American Express credit card, I have been unable to partake of a wide variety of goods and services, and that is no joke. Without that credit card, I was unable to join the local gym, to order t-shirts off of the Internet, to reserve a plane ticket online - and that is just a few of the basics. The old days of cash being king are gone.

Using an American Express, Visa or Mastercard has become commonplace globally but we do it without thinking, do I need this and do I have the money. Although American Express credit cards are a really convenient way to make a purchase - get it now and worry about it tomorrow - it does come at a heavy cost. In many places around the world, credit card debts are increasing at a worrying rate. Today, credit card debt is one of the biggest worries facing us in America.

That is one of the main reasons why I had to cancel my American Express credit card in the first place. I was getting out of control with my spending because it was just so easy handing over the card. I was using my card for just about everything, but I soon noticed the debts were mounting. Panic kicked in when I found I could no longer pay the debt.

To get my debt back into a position where I could pay for it I resorted to using a debt refinancing company. To say the situation had become a nightmare would be a gross understatement. The hardship was worth it though because I am now debt free and my American Express credit card is no more. Don’t think I am making excuses when I blame my credit card because you are not taking into account basic human psychology.

You have more control when you see the cash actually coming out of your pocket. The credit card just made it so easy; you don’t even look at the cost. Just handing the card over time and time again, it is almost addictive. Now, there is no longer a problem because there’s no longer an American Express credit card.
